Integration

What is the Integration project?
The ESUP Integration effort focuses on internal, external and tertiary integration points.  Internal and external integration points are generally handled within ESUP, although some users may be asked to participate in testing activities around these integrations.

For Tertiary applications--those outside of PeopleSoft applications that use information from PeopleSoft databases--we intend to reach out to the UMN community to help prepare for the upcoming changes.

If your organization has applications that depend upon Student, HRMS, or Finance data, you should connect to the activities conducted by the ESUP Integration Team.  As information becomes available, the Integration Team will communicate data structure changes introduced by changes to these enterprise applications so you can assess impact, modify appropriate applications, and perform testing before ESUP Go-Live.

Activities covered by the ESUP Integration effort:
1.   Collect information on UMN applications using enterprise data.  This information will be used to establish contacts and to assist in targeting appropriate impact analysis information.
2.    Gather the table names, field names and SQL your application uses, also to assist in impact analysis and establishing the appropriate data source for your application.
3.     With this information, we will build a database to assist in tracking progress and readiness for Go-Live.  Post Go-Live, this information will be maintained by Data Governance for future upgrade activities.
4.    Provide you with information so you can perform impact analysis on your applications.  This information will be communicated through this website as we get this information from the ESUP Functional and Technical teams.
5.     Make recommendations on extracting your needed data from the most appropriate enterprise data source.
6.   Track your progress and assist in issue resolution as you move through the Software Development Life Cycle steps from impact analysis, development, testing, go-live and post go-live validation / correction.

What Does This Mean to Me?
HRMS and Student PeopleSoft databases are splitting.
  • Do you use “person” data concerning employees, students, guests?
  • Do you use enterprise data from PeopleSoft custom tables, X.500, the data warehouse or secondary “shadow” systems?
  • Do you extract data directly from Oracle enterprise data sources using an Oracle direct access user-id through a tool such as ODBC, SSIS, DB-LINK, Integration Broker or Query?
If so, you may be impacted by the Upgrade. The ESUP Integration team will provide you with information to successfully migrate your application over to the modified data structures.

Application System Survey Contacts List
Near the start of the Program, we asked users to accept our offer to help by completing the Applications System Survey. We used the survey to:

  • Collect information on the applications using enterprise data
  • Create a comprehensive inventory of University systems using PeopleSoft data and
  • Help us understand what users need to successfully adjust their applications to operate in the new world of Campus Solutions (Student) 9.0, HRMS 9.2 and Finance 9.2.
The survey captured unit, department, and college contacts in three categories:
  • Main (manager contact)
  • Tech (technical application support contact)
  • Test (integration test contact)
Click here to see the ESUP Integration contacts list.

If your unit, department, or college is not listed and has databases containing Enterprise (PeopleSoft) data, if you have completed the survey but need to make changes to your information, or if you still need to complete it, please contact Tim Gagner or Bill Collings.

Thank you to those of you who completed the survey. Hopefully we have met with you and started to build relationships, engage your teams, and facilitate a smooth transition to the new PeopleSoft environment.

Applications List
Applications using Enterprise (PeopleSoft) data and identified by colleges, departments, and campuses are listed on the Consolidated Application List. If you know of applications using Enterprise data and missing from this list, please contact Tim Gagner or Bill Collings.

Data Mapping Status
We are constructing data mapping documents to include:

  • current Data Warehouse (DWH) tables/fields,
  • current PeopleSoft (PS) 8.9 PRD tables/fields, and
  • corresponding 9.0/9.2 PS delivered table definitions for HRMS, Campus Solutions (Student), and Finance.

As we add custom UMN tables to development environments, we will continue the mapping process to include these table definitions. We will provide the table/field mappings for the revised table structures as they become available. We plan to provide data mapping for the future production environments that include custom objects, in November 2013, and hope to be 80 percent complete in January 2014.

We are designing these mapping tables for colleges, departments, campuses, or units to assess impact to data structures they use in their local (tertiary) applications so they can develop necessary changes. Testing cycles for tertiary applications begins in April 2014 as part of the ESUP Integration Test cycle.

Data Warehouse Table/Field Mapping
Please click on the Data Warehouse Table/Field Mapping link below and download the Excel spreadsheet to review current DWH table/fields data mapping to current and future PeopleSoft (PS) table definitions.

We will update this spreadsheet periodically so please visit this page regularly and re-download the document. An effective date is in the header of the document so you can see which version of the document you are downloading.

You must download this document as an Excel spreadsheet because Google Docs can't successfully display the complete document.

PS HRMS and Campus Solutions (Student) table/field mapping
This Excel spreadsheet is similar to the DWH mapping document above, but it's intended for people who use CSSNAP, PCOM, or HEPCOM as their data source.

We will update this spreadsheet periodically so please visit this page regularly and re-download the document. An effective date is in the header of the document so you can see which version of the document you are downloading.

PS Finance table/field mapping
This Excel spreadsheet is similar to those above, for use when current SQL is against tables available in the DWH DWEF tables, FSUMRPT, and Finance production.

We will update this spreadsheet periodically so please visit this page regularly and re-download the document. An effective date is in the header of the document so you can see which version of the document you are downloading.
